Legless but Smiling

SYNOPSIS
Norman's remarkable mountaineering autobiography catalogues his progress from the loss of his legs, at the age of nineteen, through early British rock climbs leading to many ascents in the Alps, including the Eiger, the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. After about twenty ascents in the Alps he went further afield to Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, China, Tanzania, Kenya and Russia, all the while building up his experience until he felt able to tackle one of the world's fourteen mountains which exceed 8,000 metres. This he finally achieved but not without several setbacks.
